Will My Baby Recognize Me If I Shave? (A Quick Guide)

Babies are new to the world and may take a while to learn and understand their environment, if you make a change to your environment you may wonder if this will cause the baby to become confused.

This article looks into whether your baby will recognize you if you shave.

Will my baby recognize me if I shave?

Some people look quite different when they change their appearance, well, people in the Superman universe do, and you may be wondering if your child will view you differently if you shave

Here is what you need to know about a baby recognizing you if you shave:

Your baby recognizing you:

Your baby doesn’t really need your hair to recognize you, they will generally only need to look at your face to recognize you.

The brain of a baby recognizes faces based on the contrast of light and dark of the face, this has for the most part nothing to do with your bead but rather your facial structure, shaving your beard won’t do too much to change your facial structure.

While a change in your appearance, like a shaving of your facial hair, growing out of your facial hair, or mom wearing a wig, will cause a baby to realize that something is different, the child will adapt quickly to the change

You may see shock and confusion in your baby once you shave your beard but this will wear off eventually.

The worst-case scenario would be that your baby cries and shies away from you once you get your hair cut but this will only last a little while, like a day or two.

The sound of your voice, when you talk to your baby, and your treatment of them will not change, this will help your baby understand that this is you even though you shave your face

In addition, if your babies are very young they may not even be able to see you that well in the first place.

Your baby’s eyesight isn’t well developed when they are young, they won’t be able to see clearly at first.

Your baby’s sight is blurred in the early months of life, especially things more than 12 inches away, so, the child will use other cues to recognize you, not just their eyesight.

What to do:

You can shave your face all you like, this won’t do too much to change your face in the eyes of your baby.

While there may be an initial shock from your baby when you walk through the door the baby will recognize you soon enough.

You can change your hair as many times as you like, your child will still know that it’s you, even if they have to adjust

If you want to remedy the issue of your child being fearful or acting poorly after the shave then you can have your kids watch you once you shave

In addition, just so you know, babies are generally pretty confused for the first few months of life, they don’t develop cognition for a while, so, a change in your appearance badly affecting your child shouldn’t be something to worry about.
